FLAT SALES EDGE TOWARDS 100 MILLION
23 January 2018
THE flats market has always played an integral role on the Tayside property scene.
And over the course of 2017 that was underlined by Tayside Solicitors Property Centre figures revealing that nearly 1000 flats changed hands in the area.
Law firms enjoying access to the full range of TSPC services clocked-up total sales of £98,977,386 over 12 months, a rise of 8.9% year on year.
Centre manager Lynne Hill noted: “The price of the average flat in our area now comes in at £103,533, which represented a rise of nearly 10% compared with our previous year end figures.
“In each of the individual quarters we reported that prices were up on the previous year, with numbers changing hands much the same as in 2016. We saw significant spikes in the spring and again in November.
“In the closing quarter the Centre and member firms recorded sales totaling more than £29 million – by far the most active period of the year.”
With four in every five local properties in Dundee, Angus and north Fife successfully marketed through the TSPC, it’s hardly surprising that flat owners trust to Dundee’s Whitehall Crescent Centre and member lawyers to handle a sale.
The Centre’s reputation has been forged and carefully preserved over half a century.
Of course, the market, and the type of homes being sold, has changed dramatically since the Centre’s early days.
Nowadays, flats range from traditional, good value starter properties to luxury retreats boasting all mod cons.
“The range of flats being marketed really is quite remarkable,” confirmed Lynne. “We handle everything from former council properties to dockside apartments and converted villas.”
And in addition to being profiled in the Centre, particulars are also flagged-up in this popular Property Guide – the largest in the area - an easily accessible website with 7000-plus registered users and by the SPC Scotland network.
