THE so-called Beast from the East brought most of Scotland to a standstill.

With government red and amber warnings cautioning people not to drive and snow piling up day after day across Dundee, Angus and north Fife, it was hardly surprising that homebuyers were reluctant to venture out and about to look at potential acquisitions.

Youngsters were given unexpected “snow days,” posing problems for parental routines as schools closed.

Everything from football matches to charity events fell victim to icy blasts and snow whipping in from Siberia.

With roads and pavements treacherous, staying warm and safe indoors was the order of the day.

Staff at the Tayside Solicitors Property Centre managed to keep the Whitehall Crescent flagship open but manager Lynne Hill has noted a spike in activity on the TSPC website.

“Given all the warnings to stay home and to avoid unnecessary travel it’s hardly surprising that the weather impacted on potential homebuyers.

“This is the worst spell we have experienced for seven or eight years but the forecasters called it right and at least we got some warning of what was coming our way.

“At times like this the TSPC website – old.tspc.co.uk - certainly comes into its own. Browsers can take a look at hundreds of properties on the market from the comfort of their own home.”

Nearly 550,000 search results pages were clocked-up in February with the property details page recording around one million visits.

“Last year we had over 7500 registered users accessing the TSPC website and I’m sure the recent wintry blast will have added to that tally,” said Lynne.

“Over the course of 2017 the popularity of our website was underlined by the fact that more than 9.6 million property pages were viewed, making it one of the most successful website on Tayside.”
