Digital Guide

In the weeks before we entered the Covid 19 lockdown, the Property Market in Tayside and Perthshire was strengthening by the day. Prospective purchasers were plentiful, and stocks of properties, which had been at a level insufficient to satisfy demand, were starting to grow in number. Housebuilders were more active than in years, and the choice of properties available attracted buyers from all sectors, First Time Buyers and Home Movers alike. Prices were strong for the area, but, as has always been the case in Tayside and Perthshire, affordable to a wide range of purchasers, with Government Schemes such as the First Home Fund helping First time Buyers not only onto the first rung of the Property Ladder but in many cases, a few rungs up that Ladder.
And then came lockdown, with the necessary restrictions substantially closing down the property market to new properties being listed. Appraisals and “real” viewings became impossible and although many agents have continued to handle enquiries and make good use of technology to showcase and market their properties for sale, very few new properties have come to the market in the past 6 weeks.
That said, there have still been sales during that period. Buyers are still out there and want to buy.
As a consequence of the lockdown, it has not been possible for TSPC and PSPC to publish the fortnightly Guide, and we know that will have been missed by many. The Guide will hopefully, be back with us soon, but in the meantime, with the sense that the Housing Market in Scotland may soon be moving again in line with the lifting of some restrictions in England, we thought that this “Digital Guide” might prove useful and helpful to those of you who are used to the more traditional paper version.
The Guide may look a bit “thin” at the moment, but traffic to tspc.co.uk and pspc.co.uk during lockdown has remained constant, despite the lack of new properties. Member Solicitors have many properties to appraise and bring to the market once they are in a position to do so safely, and we anticipate a very busy time at TSPC and PSPC after lockdown, so, just watch this space.
